Introduction

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. The unit applies to childcare workers, educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

On successful completion, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting.

NOTE The Safe Work Australia First Aid Model Code of Practice requires employers to ensure that their nominated first aiders attend training on a regular basis to remain current. The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually from the date of issue and first aid qualification should be renewed every three years from the date of issue to maintain currency.
