Remote First Aid

Introduction

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation.

The unit applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

Successful attainment of the two units within the course, will result in the issue of a Statement of Attainment for the above units. A Statement of Attainment will be issued to students who do not complete the full course, listing the unit they have completed.

NOTE The Safe Work Australia First Aid Model Code of Practice requires employers to ensure that their nominated first aiders attend training on a regular basis to remain current. The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually from the date of issue and first aid qualification

should be renewed every three years from the date of issue to maintain currency
