Understanding

Student Visas

Student visas for international students in Australia can only be granted for study in courses that are registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

The Department of Home APairs is responsible for issuing visas into Australia. To learn more about Australian student visa requirements, types, processing times and fees, visit the Department of Home Affairs website.

Applying for your visa

You must only apply for a Student subclass 500 visa after you have accepted your offer to study at the Australian Institute of Leadership and Safety, also known as AILS. Your student visa will be issued for the course or courses listed on your Confirmation of Enrolment, also known as a CoE, from AILS.

To apply for a visa, you must submit these documents to the Department of Home Affairs:

  • Your Confirmation of Enrolment from AILS
